What is PYWC?
The Pittsburgh Youth Workers Conference began in 2014 when nationally known speaker Duffy Robbins contacted a couple youth pastors about coming to the city. Our first conference featured Duffy Robbins along with local youth pastors teaching the breakout sessions and we've continued that pattern ever since. We've had special guests like Josh Griffin, Chap Clark, Doug Fields, Walt Mueller, Mark Oestreicher, Bob Lenz, Josh McDowell, and The Skit Guys, but the highlight of the conference has always been local youth pastors with a particular area of expertise who were willing to share what they've learned with their fellow youth pastors. Eventually, we began using the name "Pittsburgh Youth Worker" as a way to keep conference attendees connected with each other through the year using facebook, email blasts, this resource website, and more. We couldn't have done it without the help of many sponsors over the years including the Pittsburgh Kids Foundation, Geneva College, Waynesburg University, Grove City College, Camp Allegheny, Laurelville, Pine Springs Camp, Christ Church at Grove Farm, and more. |
